Establishing the highest safety standards in the workplace
All employees actively play their part in creating a safe and sustainable work environment. The establishment of a robust, web-based Safety Management System (SMS) ensures a proactive approach to health and safety. The SMS is a living document, constantly under review to ensure best-practice safety applications.
Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment
By involving employees in the development and integration of safety procedures, the company actively encourages the reporting of potential hazards. Hazard identification is a day-to-day activity, and through strategic reviews LMS have identified specific hazards relating to the nature and location of the work. As aspects of our work contain significant levels of risk, LMS retains a diligent approach to safety. While we are extremely proud of our safety record, we will not become complacent.
The provision of training is also best-practice at LMS. Management and employees alike share a responsibility in identifying training needs, and promoting and participating in training programs. Company training aims to provide employees with the appropriate skills and knowledge to perform tasks competently, and in a manner that does not compromise or threaten themselves or others.
National Safety Committee
The LMS National Safety Committee (NSC) meets quarterly to provide a formal forum for discussion and coordination of health and safety issues. Consisting of a range of dedicated employees, including managers and supervisors from various business units, the NSC are developing an Annual Safety Plan. In addition, monthly safety reports and toolbox meeting documentation is reviewed to ensure the NSC is kept up-to-date with ongoing efforts of the work group's.
Overall, management, employees, business partners and clients alike can be confident that corporate governance standards are maintained and expectations are met. Safety is a cornerstone of the way LMS conducts business.
