LMS’ renewable electricity generation continues to increase with the expansion of the Wyong (NSW) Renewable Energy Facility. The second module was commissioned on 18 April 2012, taking total capacity at this site to 2.2MW.

SimsMM was voted as one of the Global Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations for the fourth year in a row. The company moved up 52 spots from last year’s Global 100 Sustainability list to number 11 in the world. This again highlights the ongoing dedication of SimsMM to the mission of “doing well by doing good.”

16/12/2011 HAMPTON PARK EXPANSION CONTINUES 6.6MW

LMS’ renewable electricity generation continues to increase with the expansion of the Hallam Road (Hampton Park, VIC) Renewable Energy Facility. The sixth module was commissioned on 16 December 2011, taking total capacity at this site to 6.69MW. The seventh module is scheduled to be commissioned before the end of the year.

15/09/2011 CARBON FARMING LEGISLATED

The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) was legislated on 15 August 2011. Carbon Farming provides opportunities to create carbon offsets from the farming and agriculture sector, as well as legacy waste. LMS is at the forefront of the CFI, having worked closely with government in writing the landfill gas methodology.

01/09/2011 BRISBANE LANDFILL WINS EXCELLENCE AWARD

The Brisbane Landfill won the 2011 National Landfill Excellence Award. Waste Management Association of Australia presented the award on 1 September 2011 to the Brisbane Waste Innovation Alliance. LMS would like to congratulate Thiess Services and the Brisbane City Council, and is proud to be involved with this team.

13/07/2011 THE PRIME MINISTER VISITS ROCHEDALE

The Hon. Julia Gillard, Prime Minister of Australia, visited the Rochedale Renewable Facility (QLD) on 13 July 2011. The Prime Minister met with LMS employees on-site and was provided with a tour of the gas field and power station, before concluding her visit with a press conference. LMS would like to thank the Prime Minister and her staff, and all LMS staff who assisted with the success of the visit to the Rochedale Renewable Energy Facility.

03/02/2011 BIRKDALE OFFICIALLY OPEN

The Birkdale Renewable Energy Facility (QLD) was officially opened on 3 February 2011. CEO John Falzon had the pleasure of opening the new facility with Redland City Mayor Melva Hobson. The installation of the 0.75MW module will produce more than 16,000KWh of electricity daily and reduce emissions by over 20,000 tonnes each year.
